Surviving domestic violence through film

"This course helped me to process parts of my past that I had no idea I needed to look at, sometimes I would go home at night and cry because some difficult things had come up. Because Wondering CIC created such a safe environment I felt able to process trauma and experience the empowerment I needed to tell my story and use it to help others. Without this course I wouldn't be doing the work l am today.”

Maisha came through our first therapeutic filmmaking program in 2022. At the time it was just an idea, we had no idea if it would work. Four years later and Maisha has gone on to make a second film which premiered at the Genesis cinema and has gone on to appear in documentaries and on the BBC and ITV to raise awareness about domestic violence.

WWF: Our Ingleborough

Communities around Ingleborough have been sharing their memories of the past, current connections with the land and visions for the future, recorded as part of the collaborative arts project, Our Ingleborough. An oral histories project, a film, a podcast series and workshops in schools documented members of the community talking about their relationship with Ingleborough. A selection of these stories can be seen in our cinema and also form a new series on the Dales Countryside Museum’s ‘Voices from the Dales’ podcast.
